Bonvenon al Leciono 3! (Welcome to Lesson 3). How do you feel about your Esperanto ability so far? Today we will go over 50 new useful words from the list of 1000 words used by Kontakto, and you'll find your vocabulary, reading, and writing abilities taking a huge leap forward.

- Jen Let's start out with my favorite word in Esperanto, which has a variety of uses. It means "behold," "check it out", or "Voila."

Yes/No questions (3) redakti
- Ĉu? "Yes or no" questions are very simple in Esperanto: You simply add the word "Ĉu" to the beginning of the sentence, which is pronounced like the English word chew. (Ĉu can also be used in regular sentences, in which it means "whether".)
- Jes! To answer affirmatively, you say "Jes," which is pronounced like the same word in English, "yes".
- Ne! To say "no" in Esperanto, it is "ne" which is pronounced like "neh". Also, "ne" is used like the English "not", and negates any verb it is near.

English-like words redakti
English was one of the languages that Zamenhof looked at when constructing Esperanto. As a result, he took some features of English. Several English words made their way into Esperanto, with minimal changes. Since we're just on lesson 3, let's keep things simple, and pick out some of the words that are almost identical in both English and Esperanto.
